This year at Precision Agri Services Inc, we put together a fantastic and successful PASI Planter Performance Field Day that was designed to help farmers and agricultural companies learn more about how to improve their farming practices.
Our field day was a four-hour long session that focused on new and improved farming practices that are designed to save time and money when planting. The event was all hands-on and as far away as you can imagine from classroom-style learning.
Nobody learns about great farming practices from just listening, which is why we brought all our ‘students’ out into the field to get involved with how our planters work.
It was truly a unique experience and opportunity that allowed farmers to unlock new potential by listening to what the experts from the PASI team, Precision Planting, Ag Leader, HORSH, GBGI, Martin-Till, and AgroEcoPower had to say.
Our whole team, as well as all our guests and attendees, were out in the dirt, digging with our hands to learn from past mistakes made when planting. The whole goal of our planter performance field day was to showcase how easily mistakes are made and how simple it is to avoid them.
Let's take a closer look at what was going on during our field day this August.
What happens at the PASI planter performance field day?
After guest speakers and our PASI team were introduced and the plan for the day was laid out, we split our attendees into groups, and they broke away to participate in various activities that would strengthen their planting processes and their farming techniques.
The main things our experts talked about and taught to our attendees at every station were:
- Furrow creation/downforce management
- Emergence and agronomic core principles ("Baby Corn" Plots)
- Closing systems and planter attachments - both were running live in the field
- Planter demonstrations
- Ride and drive the new HORSCH planter
We made sure that the farmers who joined us for our field day could recognize what mistakes looked like and what the mistakes would cost them. We did this by showing them in real time what certain mistakes looked like and how they could be fixed.
Our team highlighted how they could get better and improve their operation without spending too much money.
The experts PASI team, Precision Planting, and AgroEcoPower were always on hand to take any questions in regards to all the topics we covered. Overall it was an incredibly educational experience for everybody involved, and we were delighted by the feedback.
What our attendees thought of our field day
Our attendees were absolutely thrilled with the setup we had organized and were delighted with our hands-on session that provided them with valuable information on different farming technologies.
One of our goals was to ensure that the people who came to our field day walked away with more knowledge, understanding, and tools in their toolbox that they could use to improve their processes on their farm.
If somebody leaves our session like that, we hope they put their knowledge to good use so we can all strive towards more efficient and more environmentally friendly farming processes.
“I thought today was very relative to common problems we have it's totally worth coming out and learning what's new, what's coming down the line, and you can always learn something even though I've been farming all of my life there was valuable things that I learned.”
